The most exciting thing to happen in dance is happily happening in New York this week.
Christopher Wheeldon offers two American premieres at New York City Center: a new ballet to Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite, co-commissioned by New York City Center and Sadler’s Wells, with costumes by Isabel Toledo and sets by Ruben Toledo; and a Morphoses-commissioned work by Canadian choreographer Emily Molnar with costumes by Narciso Rodriguez.
Wheeldon’s award-winning Polyphonia (2001) completes the first program. Monotones II will be presented on October 1 as part of the gala evening.
