Where to watch the NYC Marathon

November 2nd, 2008

At 9:00 AM 38,000  runners from more than 100,000 applicants begin the 2008 NYC ING Marathon. If you are cheering for someone you know – you’ve already picked a meeting spot. If you are joining in with the sheer bravery, excitement and thrill of the Marathon, stand in Central Park to cheer runners at their completion, along 5th Avenue for the victory lap, or at 60th Street and First Avenue where runners enter Manhattan from Queens and embark on the toughest leg of the course – the uphill from mile 16 to mile 20 at the Willis Avenue Bridge at 120th Street.

This stretch along First Avenue is filled with elation – the brunt of the run is behind and the finish line is within reach.  The thrill of the crowds carries tired runners up this leg.

Be one of the joyful cheering voices that drowns out fatigue.
