Amato Opera’s presentation of The Marriage of Figaro will be it’s final offering to NY opera lovers. After 61 years – the opera will close with the retirement of Tony Amato – the opera’s founder and director.
Performances of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro will be held Saturday evenings and Sunday Matinees from through May 31, 2009.

Monday, April 27 and Tuesday, April 28, Princeton University hosts a festival of poets and poetry.
The event is orchestrated by Paul Muldoon, the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet who is chair of the Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton. Readings and discussions feature John Ashberry, Tina Chang, Lucille Clifton, Michael Dickman, Durs Grunbein, Matthea Harvey, Seamus Heaney, Michael Hoffmann, Troy Jollimore, Galway Kinnell, Naomi Shihab Nye, Gerald Stern, Sally van Doren, Ellen Dore atson and Kevin Young.
Readings and discussions will run from 2 to 10 p.m. each day.
The event is free but pre-registration is required.

Saturday, April 18 help plant 300 trees and green the Pomonok Houses in Queens , NY. Trees filter pollutants from the air, cool the neighborhood’s streets and homes, reduce stormwater runoff, encourage healthy, active living, and slow global warming—so many benefits from simply doing One Thing That’s Green!
Together with MillionTreesNYC, New York Restoration Project, 106.7 Lite FM, 103.5 KTU, Power 105 and New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and JetBlue, help green this community.
Breakfast and lunch will be served and all volunteers will receive a t-shirt. There will be children’s activities and prizes will be given out throughout the day. Ed Lover from Power 105′s will make a special appearance from 1 p.m.–3 p.m.
All volunteers must register and complete a waiver. Young adults ages 14–17 must have a signed waiver from a parent or guardian to participate.
It is recommended that all participating volunteers be at least 14 years old and must be accompanied by an adult. There will be activities for kids under 14 years of age.
