At the MET – Johannes Vermeer’s The Milkmaid

This exhibition, organized to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the founding of New York as “New Amsterdam,” features one of Vermeer’s most celebrated works, on loan for the first time from the Netherlands, and seen in the context of its creation in an era of exploration, travel, and trade, and in relation to the Museum’s own collection of Vermeers.
