The New York Marathon commences at 9:00, November 1
November 1st, 2009
The 2009 NYC Marathon begins at 9:00 AM today, Sunday, November 1 in Staten Island.
After crossing the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in Brooklyn, the runners reach Queens at mile 13, and NYC by way of the Queensboro Bridge at mile 16.
Their path in NY takes them up First Avenue to the Bronx by crossing the Willis Avenue Bridge, and back into NY by the Madison Avenue bridge at 138th Street.
The runners enter Central Park from 5th Avenue at 86th and run through the East side of the Park to 59th Street, head west along Central Park South, and finish at Tavern on the Green.
At whatever point you can join in, clap, cheer, and pay tribute to these athletes.
And if you are so inspired, commit to participate for 2010.
