Museum of Art and Design

On view at MAD – The Museum of Art and Design are several wonderful exhibitions. First among them is the Nadler Collection of Silver. The show entitled “Portable Treasuries” shares silver jewelry of women from North Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, and the hill tribes of Southeast Asia. The show is fascinating not only for the jewelry designs, but equally for the economic workings of the women in these cultures who carried their savings with them – from dowry to death.
The show is complimented by a smart new restaurant — Robert — on the 9th floor with unobstructed views of Central Park from Columbus Circle.
